HMG (Human Menopausal Gonadotropin / Menotropin)
Description:
HMG (Human Menopausal Gonadotropin), also known as Menotropin, is a naturally derived gonadotropic hormone complex that contains both Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH) in approximately equal biological ratios. It is extracted and purified from the urine of postmenopausal women and is widely studied for its effects on fertility, gonadal function, and endocrine regulation. In research, HMG serves as a powerful model for understanding ovarian follicle development, spermatogenesis, and hormonal feedback mechanisms.
Key Benefits:
Stimulates natural FSH and LH activity
Promotes ovarian follicle maturation and ovulation
Supports testosterone and sperm production in males
Aids in reproductive endocrinology and fertility research
Enhances studies involving pituitary and gonadal hormone interactions
Mechanism of Action:
HMG acts on the gonads by binding to FSH and LH receptors, stimulating follicular growth in females and Leydig/Sertoli cell activation in males. In females, it induces the maturation of ovarian follicles and supports estrogen synthesis; in males, it enhances testosterone production and spermatogenic activity. By mimicking endogenous gonadotropin signaling, HMG helps restore or modulate hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal (HPG) axis function in experimental research.

Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
